Where are you from originally?
- I’m from the South Coast of Durban the beach town of Amanzimtoti.
Can you take us through your journey leading up to SA champs?
- At first, I started bodyboarding for fun with my friends and later I began competing at SA Champs. My first year at Champs was in the Development Boys division, where I won in 2021. That win made me take bodyboarding more seriously, and I joined the EBA team this year.
What does your typical training routine look like? How do you balance skill development, fitness, and mental preparation for competitions?
- For fitness, I play rugby both at school and with a club. Before I go bodyboard, I typically like to go for a run on the beach and do some stretches. I enjoy sitting by the beach, watching the waves, and listening to music to prepare mentally.
What was the toughest obstacle you encountered this season, and how did you overcome it to claim the title?
- My toughest challenge was during the semifinals at SA Champs. I was stressed and feeling a bit sick that day. I had to push myself to the limit, and my team captain, Tracy Delport, encouraged me to believe in myself. That helped me get through it!
As a body boarder, what kind of wave conditions do you prefer, and how do you adapt your style to different surf environments?
- My favorite wave is at Baggies Beach. It’s a perfect right-hander on a sandbank. When conditions are great, it feels like a skate park with lefts and rights everywhere it’s perfect !
Now that you’ve claimed the title of SA Boy’s Champ, what are your goals for the future? Are there any specific competitions or personal milestones you’re aiming for?
- I want to keep improving and hopefully get sponsored. My ultimate goal is to succeed at the world titles.
What is your favorite music?
- My favorite music genres are now set to rap, R&B, and relaxing music.
What is your fav move?
- The Barrel Roll is my favorite move.
