The Cape Town Pro is shaping up as the ultimate way to close out summer. This March, South Africa’s best bodyboarders will go head-to-head at the iconic Llandudno Beach, with a seven-day waiting period running from 23–29 March. The contest will be called on the best two days of surf, letting the ocean make the call — exactly how it should be.

With 29 riders already locked into a 40-man field, only 11 spots remain for those keen to test themselves at one of the country’s most demanding bodyboarding waves. Entries close on 15 March, and with late-summer swells already starting to show, the remaining places are expected to fill fast.
This year’s draw brings together riders from across South Africa, all heading to Llandudno to take on the locals in the cold waters of the Atlantic seaboard. From Durban, George, Hermanus, Melkbosstrand, East London, and beyond, the field represents the full depth of SA bodyboarding — juniors, seasoned competitors, and heavy-water specialists all chasing a share of the R30 000 prize purse.

Leading the confirmed lineup are Double World Champion Tristan Roberts, Reigning Cape Town Pro Champion Hankus Loubser, and 2024 South African Champion Aden Kleve. They’re joined by a stacked supporting cast of national champions, rising talents, and long-time chargers who know exactly what Llandudno demands.
Adding extra spice to the field is Portugal’s Maddie Valério, who steps into the men’s draw with a serious pedigree. Fresh from charging Supertubos, one of Portugal’s heaviest waves, she arrives at Llandudno with confidence and intent.
The Cape Town Pro is a single-division event, open to anyone willing to compete — with no age or gender categories, just pure performance in the surf.

Off the beach, the setup is just as inviting. The event is free to watch, hosted at the Llandudno Lifesaving Club, with a bar service, food vendors, clean toilets, a merch store, and sponsor beach activations running throughout the waiting period. Spectators can also check out a vintage bodyboarding memorabilia exhibit, enjoy family-friendly activities, and wrap up the event with a live band to close it in true end-of-summer style.
With autumn swells approaching and the season winding down, this is exactly where riders and spectators want to be. Entries are still open, but with only 11 spots left and a 15 March deadline, now’s the time to lock it in.
