Tristan Roberts Wins Big at the 2026 Morocco World Bodyboard Championship

After six intense days of competition, the opening stop of the 2026 IBC World Tour came to a thrilling close at the stunning Anza Beach in Agadir, Morocco.

Finals Day delivered the best swell of the entire event. Clean lines, solid sets, and high-performance surfing set the stage for a showcase of world-class bodyboarding. A light fog rolled through at times, making visibility tricky, but nothing could dull the atmosphere. The energy on the beach and in the water stayed electric from start to finish.

The last day saw the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Grand Final unfold, with the top eight riders battling it out for the first title of the season.

QUARTER FINALS

Four intense 30-minute man-on-man heats kicked things off, with the final eight pushing hard for a podium finish.

Amaury Lavernhe (FRA) faced Brazil’s Gabriel Braga in a heavyweight showdown. Amaury controlled most of the heat with two strong scoring waves, but Gabriel stayed patient, holding priority deep into the closing minutes. When the opportunity came, he launched a huge backflip to snatch victory and end Amaury’s impressive campaign.

Morocco’s Chajri Badr Eddine took on Brazil’s Eder Luciano in a clash between two of the event’s most consistent performers. The local standout delivered a clean backflip for a 7.15, securing his place in the semis and sending the home crowd into celebration mode. Luciano exited with a solid 5th-place finish.

The third quarterfinal was the tightest heat of the round. Peru’s Cristopher Bayona dropped one of the event’s waves — a massive backflip into a reverse — earning a 9.25 and a 16.15 heat total. But standing in his way was two-time World Champion Pierre Louis Costes. PLC answered back with two powerful combinations to edge ahead with a 16.5 total and advance by the narrowest of margins.

The final quarterfinal featured a world champion showdown between Spain’s Armide Soliveres and South Africa’s Tristan Roberts. In another razor-close battle, Roberts secured the win with a 14.25 total, narrowly defeating Soliveres’ 13.4. Armide left the water to huge applause after an incredible performance.

SEMI FINALS

As conditions continued to improve, the level of riding stepped up even further. With podium positions secured, all four athletes had one goal in mind — the final.

The first semifinal saw Gabriel Braga face Morocco’s Chajri Badr Eddine. Both had looked unstoppable all week. In front of an ecstatic home crowd, Chajri locked in a 14-point total to book his place in his first-ever IBC World Tour final. The beach erupted as friends and fans carried him up the sand in celebration. Braga finished in 3rd place at one of his favourite tour stops.

Chajri Badr Eddine:
“I’m so happy to make my first IBC World Tour final. It’s a dream come true. Thank you to everyone who supported me.”

The second semifinal was arguably the heat of the event — Pierre Louis Costes vs. Tristan Roberts. PLC came out firing, posting a 16.75 total — the highest heat score of the day. With one minute remaining, Roberts needed a near-perfect 9.16. A solid set approached, he used his priority and committed fully. Launching into the only air reverse of the entire competition, he landed cleanly. The judges awarded a perfect 10, sending the crowd into absolute chaos and securing his place in the final.
